If you're passing through Kearney, Nebraska, and have a penchant for mouth-watering barbecue, make sure you stop by Whiskey Creek Wood Fire Grill. This vibrant restaurant is not just another pit stop; it’s a culinary experience that brings the taste of wood-fired grilling straight to your plate. With a cozy atmosphere reminiscent of a rustic lodge, it lures you in with the unmistakable aroma of charred wood and savory meats wafting from the grill.
The cuisine at Whiskey Creek is a meat lover’s dream. The menu features an impressive array of grilled steaks, including the Bone In Rib Eye, which stands out with its rich marbling and full-bodied flavor, or the Filet Mignon—the very definition of tenderness that melts in your mouth. For those who enjoy the classic flavors of barbecue, the Baby Back Ribs are a house specialty; they are beautifully glazed and slow-cooked to perfection, resulting in meat that practically falls off the bone.
Don't overlook their Prime Rib, either; marinated overnight in a special rub and cooked to juicy perfection, it's available in various sizes to satisfy any appetite. The $28 Wood Fire Prime is especially popular for those who appreciate that smoky finish infused by the grill.
The dining atmosphere is equally noteworthy. The decor is infused with a warm, western charm that echoes the restaurant's commitment to its barbecue roots. As you enjoy your meal, surrounded by rustic wood accents and memorabilia that pay homage to the art of grilling, you might even find yourself dancing to the soft tunes of country music that filter through the air.

6:30 p.m. Mon. - Party of 6 - >50% I have frequented WC for well over a decade. The food is typically very good but with cooks/staff turn over it can vary. I do have to say that the wait staff and the level of service provided has deteriorated (post covid) and that is reflected in most sit down restaurants but is prevalent at WC. The restaurant was not even at 50% capacity and fully staffed so I was very disappointed when I had to get up and try to find our server 3 times for refills and 2 of those times, she could not be found and the bartender ended up getting us our refills. I tipped the bartender more than the waitress!! There was a piece of paper in my friends burger (like meat is stored in to keep it seperated in the freezer) and they did get her another burger, which came as we were all finishing up our meals.

It has been awhile since I have been to one but it sure didn’t disappoint! Our server was lovely and very patient on us deciding! You also have peanuts to eat before the meal!!! Our food came out hot and delicious! The only complaint I have is that I ordered a burger for the fried jalapeños and it didn’t come with them. When I asked apparently the kitchen already made the burger and was like “oh yeah, we are out of those!” Kind of interesting to say that AFTER the burger was made. But they did take care of it for us! When we are in the area again, I am sure we will be back!!!!

Great service and ribeye. They cook the steak on a wood fire for a unique flavor. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

This was a real TREAT! We started with an amazing waitress named Tayler who was very personable. She made multiple visits to ALL the tables she waited on and kept such an upbeat positive attitude. Our food was absolutely divine! Steak done to perfection and the sides were warm and wonderful! Would absolutely return! Hats off to the amazing Kearney Whiskey Creek employees!

I think this place has a great atmosphere. We went for happy hour and the food was mostly greasy. It’s a good place to indulge if you’re not on a diet. The atmosphere was fun country themed. our server was great!

Great location. Easy stop when traveling along i80 got brisket was good and so was the pulled pork. The bison burger and onions were delicious. The fries were good just wish they were crispier. Location is clean and so are the bathrooms. Plenty of options for everyone

Whiskey Creek has had its ups and downs over the years, but this past year has truly turned things around. The service is always friendly, and the food consistently arrives hot and delicious in a timely manner. The western ambiance is perfect for when you’re in the mood for that kind of vibe. I’m thrilled to have had such great experiences here again! Prime rib sandwich is a must have! (Add Pepper Jack cheese )

Pretty good place to stop in at to eat. Smells like wood fire cooking wen you pull in the parking lot. Lots of cool stuff inside the restaurant on the walls to look at. Service was fast and friendly. Food was excellent. For a chain restaurant it is very good. I would choose this over Texas Roadhouse or Outback any day. I recommend trying this place out if you’re in the area. I will be stopping by to eat here again.
